What makes Sparx educational? - Sparx expands upon learning objectives used in Ontario's curriculum and integrates it within popular and fun acting activities. The lessons are structured strategically by using similar teaching methods used in today's classrooms. Each class will have specific learning goals for the kids to achieve and the content in each lesson will support that.
What educational skills will they learn? - The list is endless! But here are a few:
- Social skills such as self-empowerment and increased emotional intelligence
- To experience and appreciate perspectives of people from different backgrounds
(Note: Kids will be provided with activities relating to social issues such as bullying, anxiety, inclusiveness and public safety.)
- Increased confidence with public speaking and presentation skills
- Apply problem solving skills and learn how to take an innovative approach to a challenge
- Enhanced Language Art skills (reading, creating and interpreting written material)

Where are the classes located? - The Bloor West Village classes are located at 356 Windermere Ave at Windermere United Church near Bloor and Jane Street and our Midtown classes are located in 'Kidnasium' at 745 Mt Pleasant Rd 2nd Floor near the corner of Eglinton and Mt.Pleasant Ave. Please note Windermere Church is an inclusive space where all people are welcome. When arriving for class, please buzz the ‘Church Office’ button on the side door located on Mayfield Ave. To see a map, please scroll to the button of our ‘Home’ page.
Where do I drop off my child and is there parking available? -The drop-off for Windermere Church will be on Mayfield Ave (see above). There is also 1- hour parking on Mayfield or you may park on Windermere Ave. The parking for Kidnasium Midtown options are street parking on Mt.Pleasant, 1- Hour back street parking or a Green-P Parking Garage across the street beside the Dollarama.
What time do classes begin? - Our After School and Saturday class times all vary. Each time is listed when you click your selected class graphic located on our 'Classes' page. Our PA Day and March Break camps are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with an extra hour to 4:00pm for after care. Our Summer 2020 camps will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Windermere United Church.
What ages are allowed? - As a general guideline, we say Senior Kindergarten (4/5 years old) to Grade 6 (11/12 years old). However, we do leave it up to the parent if a child is in JK or Grade 7/8 to sign up if they wish. We invite Jk-Grade 7/8 to try a drop-in class to see if they are a good fit! As well, all of our PA Day and March Break Camps take JK to Grade 8 students!
How many students are in each class? - We allow no more than 13 students in each class.
What is Acting Level 1?- Acting Level 1 is the next step up for Little and Big Sparx who loved our beginner course or want to advance their acting skills! Little Sparkies and Big Sparx who have already completed an Educational Acting course with us are encouraged to join this class. As well, new students are welcome to join as long as they have some previous acting experience. Students in this class will experience brand new Sparx lessons designed by professional actors! This course will teach how to enhance your child's acting skills by doing fun and creative activities.
My children has allergies and/or medical conditions. Who do I inform?- When you are selecting your class please ensure that you note this information in the application box located in the upper right corner. Or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are there places I can go during the class? - Yes! Feel free to explore Bloor West Village during the class! There are many cafés, restaurants and stores located just two short blocks north of the church on Bloor St. W. As well, High Park is just a 5-minute drive east on Bloor St. W. Parents are also welcome to spend time in the church library room. *Please note the church does not allow strollers inside. For Midtown Kidnasium Classes: Parents can wait in the lobby (by January it will be a lounge with coffee for parents). Alternatively, there is Origin coffee and a Starbucks nearby.
Can I sign up more than once? - Yes! We would love to see you again! Moreover, we encourage it as each class is designed to benefit your child in a positive yet different way.

Does my child need to have acting experience? - We accept all children at any experience level! * For our 'Acting Level 1' classes, we recommend that you sign up if your child has completed another Sparx course OR if they have some previous acting experience.
How do I sign up and pay? - Please click above on ' Classes’ and select the program, location and date(s) you would like to sign up for. You have the option of purchasing multiple classes at once and paying one total payment online with a credit or debit card. As well, you have the option to pay in person with cash or cheque due on the first day of class.
What is the deadline to signup? -We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure your child a spot. However, our general deadline for classes will be 10 days prior to the first day of the selected class.
Is there a refund policy? - We offer a full refund if notified 10 days prior to the first class. If cancellation occurs past the 10 day deadline you will receive a 50% refund. No refund once the class has commenced or for Drop In classes. However, exchanges are acceptable. As well, if informed beforehand, we offer credits for missed classes.
What if my child has to miss a class? - We encourage you to sign up only if you can commit to the entire course. However, we understand that life can be busy and if requested, class credits can be issued towards other classes.
After paying, it said you would provide free shipping. What should I expect? - A confirmation email and a spot for you in one of our classes! :)
